Line-of-Travel (LOT) sequence - definitions

Line-of-Travel (LOT) sequence - A presort for Enhanced Carrier Route rates in which mailpieces are arranged by ZIP+4 codes in the order in which the route is served by the carrier. The mailpieces are sequenced in delivery order.

Line-of-Travel - Sortation of carrier-route coded lists (and hence pieces for delivery) in the line of travel utilized by the individual postal carrier. Under re-classification, may become mandatory for lowest postal rate. In development in 1995.
