Remote Sensing - definitions

remote sensing - Acquisition of raster images of the Earth, often involving spectral frequencies other than the visible band, by devices typically carried on airborne or satellite platforms. Sometimes refers also to image analysis of these images.

Examples of remote-sensing methods include aerial photography, radar, and satellite imaging.
