Envelopes returned to the sender usually give the reason that they were undeliverable on a sticker or stamp on the envelope. A stamp will usually give the reason in the local language only, a sticker will give it in the local language and French, the official language of the Universal Postal Union. The following list provides a translation of these reasons for non-delivery. Note that not all reasons are applicable to all countries.
