Executive information system (EIS) - An Executive Information System (EIS) is a specialized form of a Decision Support System (DSS). It's a type of management information system intended to facilitate and support the information and decision making needs of senior executives through graphical displays, easy-to-use user interfaces, and drill-down capabilities. In recent years, the term EIS has been generally replaced by the term Business Intelligence (BI).

Executive Information System (EIS) - A reporting application targeted for use by executives. Usually such applications have extremely user-friendly, graphical interfaces with a small local data store derived from connection to a data warehouse. It is often used synonymously with decision support system.

Executive Information systems (EIS) - A precursor to business intelligence systems. Before the democratisation of information, customized views of business data was accessible only by a limited elite of senior executives via EIS systems. EIS systems were typically expensive to build and difficult to modify, hence slow to adapt to the rapidly changing needs of modern corporations.
