Leptokurtic Distribution - definition(s)

Leptokurtic Distribution - A leptokurtic distribution is symmetrical in shape, similar to a normal distribution, but the center peak is much higher; that is, there is a higher frequency of values near the mean. In addition, a leptokurtic distribution has a higher frequency of data. If you move scores from shoulders of a distribution into the center and tails of a distribution, the result is a peaked distribution with thick tails.
