This section is important in that it provides the formatting rules for the postal codes of the country concerned, and gives in some cases non-valid characters and the ranges of postal codes which are not used, thus allowing basic computer checks for invalid formats and postal codes. Furthermore, the postal codes of the regions where minority indigenous languages are spoken are provided to allow output, if necessary, in these languages for these areas.
