Physical Data Model / Modeling / Modelling - definitions

Physical Data Model - A Data Model that is optimized for a specific database management system (DBMS). While Conceptual Data Models are completely devoid of database-level information, a Logical Data Model stores generic characteristics (such as indexes and foreign keys) without adding anything specific to a single DBMS. Physical Data Models translate information from a Logical Data Model to designs that are specific to a certain DBMS.
