The conversion from a Geospatial_ data set that represents a surface with points and their attributes (e.g. terrain heights) to a grid (raster) data structure that represents the same surface. The estimation of attribute values of the surface at an unsampled point in the grid is based on the known attribute values of surrounding points in the point dataset.
