   * trial or trial-sized item or specimen intended to indicate the nature of the product
   * may be an actual product provided that it is intended as a trial to be used, displayed or worn by the reader of the publication
   * scent strips and beauty seals are not considered Samples and are priced and weighed with the host publication some examples of Samples include: food, personal care items and household products

échantillon - (Terminologie du service Poste-publications)

   * article ou spécimen remis à titre d'essai ou destiné à indiquer la nature du produit
   * un échantillon peut être un produit réel, pourvu qu'il fasse la promotion de l'utilisation, de l'affichage ou du port du produit en question par le lecteur de la publication
   * les bandes parfumées et les petits sachets de produits de beauté ne sont pas considérés comme des échantillons; ils doivent être pesés et affranchis avec la publication principale.
   * parmi les exemples d'échantillons, on retrouve notamment la nourriture, les articles d'hygiène personnelle et les produits d'entretien
