If South Sudan continues to use Sudanese postal codes, the postal code consists of a block of 5 digits - the first two indicate the region, the third the postal zone, the fourth the exchange centre and the fifth the post office.

South Sudan has 10 states (wilayat, singular - wilayah). These are:
Central EquatoriaEastern Equatoria
Jonglei
Lakes
Northern Bahr el Ghazal
Upper Nile
Warrap
Western Bahr el Ghazal
Western Equatoria
Western Upper Nile
(formerly Unity)
The ten states are further subdivided into 86 counties, which are divided into payams and then into bomas.
South Sudanese area codes have a length of 2 digits when called from abroad. All subscriber numbers have 7 digits. Mobile numbers have the area codes 91-92, 95 or 97.
