Languages of Albania

Albanian External, the official language, is spoken in two dialects - Gheg External, with 300 000 speakers mainly in the North, and Tosk External, with 2 900 000 speakers in the rest of the country. There are 60 000 Greek External-speakers in the south near to the Greek border; 30 000 Macedonian External-speakers along the border with Macedonia; 60 000 Macedo Romani-speakers and 60 000 Vlach Romani External-speakers.

The post office name is stated usually as well as the postal town in rural addresses:

Quotation marks are used when the street is named after a person, place or event, and is in the nominative case. Addresses may contain descriptors, such as "next door to the garage".

This is written kutia postare nr. (abbreviated to K.P.) in Albanian.

On 9th October 2006, Albania started introducing a 4-digit postal code (Kodi Postar) system. The system is still in its early stages and the code is unlikely to be often found in addresses.

The first two digits indicate a postal district, the last two a post office. The postal code cannot commence with 0.
