As can been seen in the examples above, addresses without postal codes require more information that those with postal codes. Sangkat means “quarter”, khan indicates a city district, phoum means “village”, khum means "commune", krong means "munipality", srok is a provincial district and khet means “province”.

The postal code is written after the settlement name.

Cambodia introduced a 5-digit postal code in 1997, and this has now been upgraded to a 6-digit code, probably in 2018. The codes range from 010000 to 250702. Postal code zones correspond to a great extent to administrative districts – see table in the section Administrative districts.

The first two digits indicate the province, the next two the district or municipality, and the final two the commune or urban area.

Metadata containing postal code formatting rules, exceptions and regular expressions can be acquired External
